Karatsu is a castle town.
It is the gateway to white sandy beaches and the pine forest of Nijinomatsubara.

It is here in Karatsu that the concept for Karae Hotel was born.
Hotel Karae reflects all that is Karatsu.
The lounge art and the big table have been created using recycled materials from the sake brewery building which was built on this land 100 years ago.
This brings a fresh style to the city while retaining the traditional culture of Karatsu. Stroll along the coast with Matsubara in the background, visit Karatsu Castle, see the Karastsu Ware kilns, use the co-working space , take a guided tour or watch a movie –

Breakfast is served in the ''F.L.O.S.S'' themed cafe & dining ,Karae Table, which is situated on the first floor of the hotel .
In keeping with the theme, all meals are prepared from produce which is : Fresh,Local,Organic,Seasonal and Sustainable. Alternatively,if you wish to go out, then YOBUKO, a set menu restaurant is within a one minute walk from the hotel and KAWASHIMA TOFU is located in the KYOMACHI shopping district.
MOVIE WATCHING PLAN
On the first floor of the Karae building
there is 「THEATER ENYA(演屋)」
which has been revived for the first time in 22 years.
In the small foyer, valuable art sketches which were used by Nobuhiko Obayashi in the Karatsu based film 『花筐/Hanagatami』 are on permanent display.
THEATER ENYA is capable of showing 35mm films.
EXPERIENCE AND TOUR GUIDE PLAN
A plan to get to know and enjoy Karatsu in various ways. Ikiiki-Karatsu is the company that runs this hotel, and, in conjunction with Karatsu City has planned themed experiences to highlight the many cultural and traditional aspects of Karatsu, such as the annual Autumn Karatsu-Kunchi Festival, tours to local potteries to see the famous Karatsu-Yaki wood ash glazed pottery which uses clay from the areas around Karatsu and visits to Karatsu's many historical buildings. There is also a Castle Town themed guided walk, as well as shopping and enjoying the natural beauty of Karatsu.
